up north, no joke

In an attempt to fully appreciate the insane amounts of light we are getting here, I went to the true North this weekend to Kiruna, Luleå, and Riksgränsen this weekend. (The first and the last are both north of the Arctic Circle)

In Riksgränsen we stayed in a village of 50. After waiting for the train that never came for two hours in the cold, this is me with the hotel and mountains in the background.


When we finally made it to Luleå, just south of the arctic circle, we watched the sun set and rise within the course of,
oh, maybe 20 minutes...
