Electric City, let's go!

I am beginning to suspect that the quality of my posts (and their titles) is becoming inversely proportional to the frequency of my posting... somewhere in here there ought to be one reasonably well written entry, right?

With Iain starting a new job Monday morning, I was expecting a low key weekend that maybe involved dinner with friends, some time on the water or just catching up on life in the city after a week + of cruising and the 4th of July. Or maybe some quality outside time--running, a walk to Fremont for breakfast, etc..

Saturday morning we slept in and were greeted by sunshine and a beautiful summer day. Iain asked: Do you want to go flying today? Me: Sure! (This is hardly a question to which you say no). We started scheming and decided to visit Electric City and visit the Grand Coulee Dam. I have not seen much in the way of eastern Washington or the Cascades. We picked up Anne and headed down to Renton.

Over the Cascades we went, Iain flying and Anne in the right seat to take in the view. It was a little bumpy and a few faces were made (it was her first experience in a small plane) but all in all, a great flight and there were plenty of smiles once we landed. Grand Coulee was astonishingly beautiful and we were greeted by proper desert heat--something we would come to grumble about as the day grew on. We drove into town realized quickly that we ought to have brought swim suits-- paddle boats, speed boats and jet skis were everywhere. The dry desert air was in the upper 90's and rising.

After visiting the dam, the Colville Confederated Tribes Museum and a bit of driving around the the park area, we were ready to head home out of the heat and headed back to the airport. Alas, such foolish plans were foiled by an engine which wouldn't turn over. We spent several hours attempting to start it but in the end stayed the night until a mechanic was able to come check it out Sunday morning.
